Introducing our Shield Blend for Health and Immune Support

With everything going on this past year, our well-being and immune health have become a top priority. Changing our lifestyles to include healthier habits like eating clean food, exercising, and removing toxic products from our homes are all great places to start. While we can’t cook your meals or recommend a great yoga studio in your area, we can give you pure, natural products to make living a chemical-free lifestyle easy and rewarding, which is why we are so excited to announce our new Shield essential oil blend!

Pop open a bottle of Shield, and you’ll smell the powerful combination of Clove, Thyme, Lemon, Eucalyptus, Rosemary, Tea Tree, Cinnamon and Lemongrass. These oils not only create a warm, sweet aroma, but they also carry a powerful antibacterial punch and immune-boosting properties.

Using Shield to cleanse the air and surfaces in your home will reduce the chance of germs and bacteria invading your body. Essentially we created our Shield blend to provide a shield against germs and bacteria to help you and your family stay as healthy as possible. Some of the oils we used in this blend have also been shown in studies to help boost your immune system, so it’s a win-win!

Which oils are in our Shield blend, and what are their benefits?

Clove

This spicy oil is very well known for being a powerful antiviral essential oil. A component of clove called Eugenol has been shown in studies to be effective at boosting both cell and humoral immune response. Essentially acting like antibodies in your system, it can help reduce the chance of getting a virus. Additionally, clove is antibacterial and a wonderful antioxidant.

Thyme

Thyme essential oil has been used for centuries to help promote a healthy body and as part of cleansing rituals. In medieval times, herbalists would use thyme to fight infections in the respiratory system and heal wounds. The antibacterial and antifungal properties of thyme combat harmful pathogens and free radicals which can reduce risk of disease.

Lemon

This zesty and fresh oil also has incredible antibacterial and antifungal properties. Often used in natural cleansers, lemon can help kill bacteria and prevent fungal growth. Scientific studies have shown that it can promote a healthy functioning liver which plays a huge role in immune function.

Eucalyptus

In studies, eucalyptus has shown to implement cell-mediated immune response, and it has amazing antibacterial effects specifically in the upper respiratory tract. This could be very helpful when battling an illness in the airway. Being that eucalyptus is so great for clearing congestion, it can also aid in preventing phlegm from turning into a sinus infection.

Rosemary

This fragrant herbal oil is another one that has antifungal and antibacterial properties. Rosemary can help stimulate lymph nodes and detoxify the body. It is also another great oil for a healthy respiratory system. All of these factors add up to an ideal essential oil for boosting the immune system.

Tea Tree

Tea Tree is very well known as a serious fungus fighter, but it is also great at destroying microbes and bacteria. This is good news for your body as you come in contact with these every day.

Cinnamon

Cinnamon contains almost the same constituents as clove. Believed to be a part of the original recipe grave robbers used to prevent the plague, this essential oil fights free radicals and stimulates the immune system while guarding against viruses.

Lemongrass

This essential oil’s main component, citral, has shown to protect healthy cells by working in conjunction with your immune system. Citral also prevents the growth of microorganisms.

Putting it all together

This all-inclusive blend is a powerful weapon for fighting illness and a wonderful ally for keeping your body healthy. By diffusing Shield, it can aid in killing bacteria in the air and keep it from attaching to cilia in your nose that could invade your system.  Alternatively, applying this synergy topically can build a virtual “Shield” from unwanted viruses. Regular use of this blend may help promote a strong immune system.

How to use Shield

This is one of our most diverse blends to date as there are so many ways to use it in your daily lives and around your home. Over the next few weeks, we will be posting lots of great recipes which utilise Shield’s power, but we have listed some of our favourite tips and recipes below in case you just can’t wait for future posts 😉

Everyday viral protection: To protect yourself from airborne germs and viruses, diffuse Shield around your home for 30-45 minutes each day. Studies conducted in the US showed that diffusing these oils significantly lowered airborne levels of three different types of bacteria and also helped to reduce feelings of stress and anxiety.

Clean your home: Add Shield to your natural cleaning products to increase germ-killing power. This works great for almost any surface except untreated wood.

Try these ideas:

  • Add a drop to your dishwasher before running.
  • Put a few drops in your mop solution before cleaning floors.
  • Use a drop or two on your wool dryer balls.
  • Mix with unscented soap and baking soda to scrub your tub.
  • Add two drops to baking soda, sprinkle on carpet, and vacuum up.
  • Use a few drops to help remove sticky residue.
