Melissa Essential Oil
The bright green, mint-like leaves of the Melissa officinalis perennial create a strong, citrusy, lemony, herbaceous, floral essential oil. This oil is widely used and excellent for calming the nerves and fighting depression. It is used in cases of hysteria and panic to slow the heartbeat, lower high blood pressure and comfort the heart.

This distiller has been certified organic since 2007. They are a family run business and harvest roses, lavender and melissa. I adore this family because the environment is a core part of their business and they have developed a distilling process, which has zero waste. Everything goes back into their gardens in the form of a natural fertiliser and the parts of the lavender that cannot be used to distil oil are given to a nearby cow farm and used as feed.
Blends well with: Frankincense, geranium, lavender, rose and ylang ylang.
- Because of its analgesic properties, you can add two drops of Melissa Essential Oil to one tablespoon of carrier oil and massage over the lower abdomen for menstrual pain and cramping.
- Melissa can be diffused, blended into a massage oil/cream/lotion and used in a bath for depression, nurturing the nervous system, fighting fungal infections and easing headaches.
Use in low dilution when applying to the skin or using in a bath as it may irritate the skin. Use caution if on a diabetic medicine or if there is open, damaged skin.
Consult your healthcare provider if you are pregnant, nursing, taking medications, or being treated for other health challenges. Keep out of reach of children. Store in a cool place, tightly capped.
Suggested shelf life is 4 years.
